Coffee Worth Pausing For

Möte Coffee Roasters is a veteran-owned and operated Louisville roastery born from a shared conviction among three friends: that coffee, at its best, is more than a drink.

It's a reason to stop, connect, and be present together.

And now we want to share that feeling with your customers.

Our Approach

Möte Coffee Roasters sources thoughtfully, roasts carefully, and brews with intention.

Our seasonal releases, collab roasts, and partner brews are all expressions of the same idea: craft coffee that's meant to be discovered and shared, not just consumed.

Beyond the coffee, we believe a roastery should be a gathering space: welcoming, equitable, and deeply woven into its community.

  • A scoop filled with green coffee beans resting on a burlap sack.

    PURPOSE LED

Every decision, from sourcing to hiring, is grounded in intention.

  • Close-up view of roasted coffee beans spread out in a tray.

    CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Craft, curiosity, and discovery in every bag we roast.

  • A hand holding a metal scoop filled with roasted coffee beans beside a container filled with more coffee beans.

    COMMUNITY ROOTED

We exist to strengthen the people and places around us.

Good Coffee, No Pretense

We love great coffee. We just don't think enjoying it should feel intimidating.

You won't find coffees chosen simply because they're rare or unusual.

At Möte Coffee Roasters, we select coffees because they taste incredible, and because they're coffees people genuinely want to come back to.

We're happy to talk about processing methods and origins if you're interested, but we're equally happy if your review is simply:

"That's a really good cup of coffee."

Now it's your customers' turn to feel it.

Fika

A Swedish tradition —
a deliberate pause for coffee, conversation, and something sweet.

It's the spirit behind everything we do at
Möte Coffee Roasters.

Why Möte?

Möte means "meeting" in Swedish, and that single word holds everything we believe in.

From our first conversations around a garage coffee roaster to the community we're building today, Möte Coffee Roasters has always been about people finding each other over something exceptional in the cup.

Your customers deserve a reason to pause too; that's where we come in.

Behind the Grind

Möte Coffee Roasters was founded by three close friends who share a military background, an entrepreneurial streak, and an uncompromising standard for what coffee can be.

Different paths, one vision: a roastery built for craft, community, and the people who appreciate both.

Mote co-founder and CEO Justin Kumor - man with brown hair and a beard sitting at a table with a glass mug of coffee wearing a red button-up shirt at a cozy indoor space

Justin Kumor

Co-Founder & CEO

A Special Operations veteran, technologist, and entrepreneur, Justin spent years leading innovation in defense and aerospace before turning his eye for precision toward something more personal: the perfect cup. His travels abroad sharpened his palate for clean, expressive coffees and introduced him to Sweden's fika, a deliberate pause for coffee, conversation, and something sweet. That idea became the soul of Möte. A roastery built not just around great coffee, but around the people who gather over it.

Mote co-founder and head roaster Jonathan Beardsley - a man smiling and holding a mug at a table in a cozy cafe

Jonathan Beardsley

Co-Founder & Head Roaster

A special operations veteran whose next mission turned out to be coffee. After years as a home-brew beer enthusiast, Jonathan discovered that coffee roasting offered just as much depth and complexity. He traded late nights for early mornings, moving from garage roasting experiments to leading Möte's roasting program. He views every batch of coffee as equal parts science, craft, and story: a way to connect to the farmers and landscapes where each coffee begins.

Francis Beifuss

Co-Founder & General Counsel

Francis has spent his career keeping businesses on the right track and out of trouble as an attorney and in Special Operations. But it was a cup of coffee in Central America that changed his trajectory. Black, unadorned, and perfect on its own, it set a standard he's been chasing ever since. At Möte, he brings his legal expertise and business instincts to everything from day-to-day operations to major transactions, though ask him, and he'll tell you his favorite role is quality control.
